Think Spanish Writing Team

Lucía Terra is a Social and Cultural Anthropologist from Uruguay. After studying a M.A. in Cross-Cultural Communication in the United States as part of a Fulbright Scholarship, she then relocated to Canada, where she obtained a Ph.D. in Language and Literacy Education. She is a freelance writer, editor, translator, and instructor. She has studied several languages and has been teaching 3 of them for the past 15 years. An avid traveller, she has visited or lived in more than 20 countries around the world. Miguel Romá, Think Spanish writer and editor extraordinaire,  was born in Valencia, Spain. After completing his studies in German and English Philology at the University of Valencia, he moved to Munich, Germany, where he spent the next 5 years deepening his knowledge of the German language and culture and teaching Spanish at the Berlitz School  of Languages.Since his arrival in the United States in 1978, Miguel has been a Spanish teacher in the Boston Public Schools at different levels and positions. He has taken graduate courses in linguistics, critical and creative thinking, and translation at the University of Massachusetts Boston. Currently he is a member of the faculty at Boston Latin Academy. For the last 3 years, he has been an editor for the popular Spanish teaching series Breaking the Barrier, and a close collaborator to its founder and principal author, John Conner. Miguel is fluent in Spanish, English and German. He also has a solid knowledge of French and Italian, and lately has been flirting with Russian. He has traveled extensively through Europe, and especially through Spain, which he has visited regularly for the last 20 years.  His love of the Spanish language and his dedication to its teaching and dissemination are reflected in his everyday life as well as in his writing.

Angeles Fernández    was born in Burgos, Spain. Burgos is a city located in the region of Castilla y León, where the Spanish language was first spoken and written. Angeles studied 2nd cycle of English Philology (English and Spanish language, literature, phonetics and history; Latin) at the "Universidad of Valladolid" and 3rd year of English and French Languages at the "Official School of Languages" in Spain. Today Angeles is teaching the Spanish online course "Practical Spanish", at www.UniversalClass.com. She also offers 1 to 1 Spanish tutoring online. She has found out, by teaching her own language, how Spanish is today appreciated and learned all around the world. Angeles and her family live in Burgos where she writes to us about life in Spain!

Yanina Ibarra, from Buenos Aires Argentina, holds a Bachelors degree in Communication focused on Cultural and Educative themes and Technician in Writing.  She completed her undergraduate studies at UNER, Argentina.  Continuing her educational pursuits, Yanina is currently finishing a Masters course in Communication for Development at Malmo University, Sweden. She is also working as a freelance writer and coordinating a communication project focused on spreading information on NGOs in Argentina. Yanina's exceptional writing skills and her extensive travel experience gives Think Spanish! readers first hand insight into the lives and cultures in various Spanish speaking countries throughout the world.

Paula Meggiolaro from Buenos Aires, Argentina holds a degree in Advertising from the University of Commercial Sciences of Buenos Aires. Throughout her career with major advertising agencies she has continued to develop her greatest passion: writing. In addition to writing for Think Spanish, she collaborates with Marcopolo, a magazine for travelers, and with LiveMiami, a magazine about lifestyle, culture and real estate in Miami, with distribution in all Latin America. An avid traveler and language enthusiast Paula is fluent in: Spanish, English, French and speaks a bit of Italian. Her love for language, travel and writing shines through in her dynamic Think Spanish! articles.

Yésica del Moral, from Mexico, is a Graphic Designer and Illustrator with a Masters Degree in Visual Arts. At present, she's working toward a Doctorate in Fine Arts from the Universidad Politécnica de Valencia, in Spain.She has worked as a graphic designer for several agencies in Mexico City and at a newspaper in Oaxaca, Mexico. For three years, she served as Dean of Postgraduate Academic Affairs at the San Carlos National Academy of Visual Arts, part of the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de Mexico, where she also taught postgraduate classes in semiotics and postgraduate advisory seminar. She has also worked for the State of Puebla's Ministry of Culture.Yésica presently lives in the foothills of the Himalayas, in northern India. Think Spanish Grammar Lessons

Señor Conner is the man behind our amazing Grammar column each month, Hablando de Gramática!  John is principal author and Series Editor of the Breaking the Barrier Series. In addition, John has taught Spanish in the Modern Language Department at Groton School, Groton, MA, since 1981. A graduate of Evanston Township High School and Amherst College, he earned his M.A. in Spanish Literature and Linguistics from the University of Wisconsin. John has worked as a consultant to the College Board for the Advanced Placement program and served on the Test Development Committee for the Spanish AP Language and Literature Examinations. He has worked on a pilot educational program for People in Español magazine and as a consultant to Early Advantage, distributors of Muzzy, the award-winning BBC language course for children.  A devoted classroom teacher, an enthusiastic advocate for his professional colleagues, and a lively public speaker, John presents his popular workshop, “The Ideal Lesson Plan – Ten Steps to Total Fluency” to teachers from coast to coast.
